Ian is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr Li Wang’s lab at Stanford University with expertise in functional genomics, molecular biology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics. His research focuses on leveraging these interdisciplinary approaches to explore the diversity and complexity of human brain development and its connection to brain cancer, with the goal of advancing human health.

Ian earned his B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenomics at the University of California, San Francisco, under the mentorship of Dr. Yin Shen. His doctoral work investigated the role of the non-coding genome in human brain development and neuropsychiatric disorders using 3D epigenomic annotation.

Outside the lab, Ian is an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy and enjoys exploring historic movie theaters throughout the Bay Area.
